Laboratory of materials

It is the largest laboratory in hall "C", which is used to determine the fire technical characteristics and technical safety parameters of solid or liquid substances, including the determination of toxic products arising from combustion and thermal degradation. It is mainly used for laboratory exercises of students. The laboratory has 28 workplaces equipped with extraction, the performance of the air conditioning system allows simultaneous work on 11 of them.

List of devices

Tests AutoFlamm Tester

This automatic device for flammability tests AutoFlamm Tester is a device designed especially for testing home textiles in vertical position (e.g. curtains, drapes, sheets and tablecloths). It can also be used for testing other textile materials used, for example in transport.

Smoke Density Chamber

Static method based on the principle of reducing the intensity of light passing through space of the smoke chamber filled with smoke arising from thermal decomposition or combustion. The samples are tested in a horizontal position and are thermally stressed by a conical radiator.

Determination of Flammability by the Oxygen Index

An instrument for determining oxygen index of solid materials in miscellaneous shape variants (textile, foils, solid materials). The working atmosphere is prepared by mixing O2 and N2 from pressure cylinders, the instrument includes an oxygen analyzer.

Oxygen Calorimeter IKA 200

A device for determining the heat of combustion in a semi-automatic and manual mode. The calorimeter is used to classify materials to the fi re reaction classes A1 or A2 according to ČSN EN ISO 13501.

Determination of a Flash Point Using an Open Crucible Method by Cleveland

The apparatus is designed to determine the flash point and fire point of flammable liquids, especially petroleum products, with a fl ash point above 79 °C. Flash point and fire point are indicators of the ability of a flammable liquid to form an explosive mixture with air under controlled conditions and subsequently burn.

Non-flammability Tester

Electrically heated furnace used to classify materials to the fire reaction classes A1 or A2 according to ČSN EN ISO 13501. It includes a thermostat for setting the temperature in the furnace.

Determination of a Flash Point Using a Closed Crucible by the Pensky - Martens Method

The apparatus type NPM440 allows the determination of the flash point by two methods in a closed crucible and is intended for liquids with a fl ash point above 40 °C.

Reaction to Fire Test - Ignitability of Building Products

A device for the basic characteristics for classification to the fire reaction class B – F.

Furnace for Determination of Flash Point (Setchkin Furnace)

A device is used to determine the ignitability of solid materials. It concerns the determination of flash-ignition, self-ignition and glowing temperatures up to 750 °C. It includes a thermostat for setting the air temperature in the furnace, flowmeter and a device for recording the temperature.
