At the end of summer, from 24–28 August 2026, the Faculty of Safety Engineering at VSB-TUO will organize the International Summer School Climate-Resilient Critical Infrastructure. Students and experts from partner universities in Slovakia and Poland will come to Ostrava for the five-day programme.
Our faculty is currently offering the opportunity for up to five students who are interested in the protection of critical infrastructure from the impacts of climate change to participate.
The programme also includes a short mandatory online meeting, which will take place on 18 August 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. During the meeting, participants will learn more about the organization of the Summer School and meet the other students.

The Summer School is organized within the Erasmus+ programme in cooperation with Technical University in Zvolen and Pomeranian University in Słupsk. Its aim is to connect theoretical knowledge with practical experience and demonstrate approaches to protecting critical infrastructure in an environment increasingly affected by extreme climate events.
Five days of practical learning and international cooperation
Participants can look forward to an intensive programme led by international experts, combining lectures, practical exercises and team project work. Under the guidance of experts, they will focus, for example, on assessing the complexity of critical infrastructures, the climate resilience of industrial critical infrastructure, geographic information systems, and the use of Nature-Based Solutions.
Among the experts participating in the programme will also be Prof. Ernesto Salzano, a world-renowned expert in process safety. The Summer School will be held under the auspices of the Department of Civil Protection.
