The Centre of Excellence for Safety Research (CESAR) is a groundbreaking initiative of the Faculty of Safety Engineering at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava. As a flagship project under the Horizon Europe programme within the ERA Chairs scheme, CESAR is dedicated to strengthening excellence in safety research.
This international project focuses particularly on hydrogen technologies and alternative energy sources. Its core mission is to enhance scientific excellence, foster international collaboration, and develop innovative methodologies to address the complex safety challenges of the 21st century.
Launched in February 2025, CESAR will establish a cutting-edge research centre that brings together global expertise and a strong commitment to advancing the field of safety science.
The project is led by Prof. Ernesto Salzano from the University of Bologna, whose leadership will ensure that CESAR becomes a European leader in safety research and innovation.
